About us

This website is for aspiring and working artists, by working artists. It’s about becoming a successful, full time artist.

Contributing writers:

Aisling D’Art is the founder of this website. She has worked in a variety of media and taught at national arts events including Artfest, Art and Soul, Art Unraveled and Celebrate Art.

“I’ve been self-employed as an artist, alternately full- and part-time, since I was 14 years old and sold my first greeting card designs.

“In 2002, I started the Yahoo Group, AJmarketing, to answer questions of people who are active with artist’s journals (AJ = artist’s journals, or illustrated diaries). As a result of questions on that list, I started writing business-related articles for my Aisling.net website.

“In the middle of 2006, I moved those articles to this website. I no longer moderate AJmarketing, but it’s still a fine community with a fabulous archives filled with helpful advice.”

Eileen Morey is a third-generation artist, creating oil painting and working with fabric, as well as some mixed-media work. When she’s not pursuing art, she writes and edits books and articles, under some very familiar pen names.  (Some of which date back to the early 1990s when it seemed prudent to use a pen name online, for privacy.)
