More business, more art

Dec 26th, 2008 | By Aisling | Category: News

Artists should be able to find career information that they need.  That’s why I created this website, The Business of Art.

Oh, I’d been writing about the business of art for years. Most of those articles were at my original site,  Aisling.net.

However, that site became too huge to be useful.  The sitemap listed hundreds of articles in vague categories.  Even I couldn’t find articles when I wanted to refer people to them.

I struggled to keep the sitemap current.  But, writing and creating art were higher priorities than website maintenance.

So, I split Aisling.net into smaller, more navigable sites.  It seemed to help.

It also created two new problems:

People didn’t always realize that I had more, related articles at other websites.

I also lost name recognition.  To new visitors, I became, “Aisling… who…?”

Finally, help arrived.

WordPress has solved these issues for me.  It updates the sitemap automatically.  It has a search form on every page.

Now, I can reintegrate most of my articles — including my business articles — at Aisling.net.

So, my “Business of Art” articles have returned to Aisling.net.  Most of them are there now.

This site will remain here because many people know it’s here, it’s well-ranked at the search engines, and it showcases the website design that I recommend to othes.

To read my most current articles, visit Aisling.net.  I think you’ll be surprised when you see the amount of help that’s there.
