Sites that Soar!

Mar 27th, 2008 | By Eileen | Category: What's new

Sites that Soar! - the bookMany people asked about the free (and easy) tools I used to redesign this website. So, I wrote a how-to book about it, for artists.

Find out what’s in this book, at my info page, SitesThatSoar.com

But really, how this site looks is just one reason to try this design.

What I like best is this:

I can update this site in less than 1/3 the time that it used to take me. In fact, I can update it as fast as I update LiveJournal, or any other blog-type site… but this doesn’t look like a blog.

In addition, this site went from somewhere on the fifth page at Google, to the top three on the first page, in my keywords (business + art). And, it’s stayed there ever since.

So, I wrote a book that explains everything that I did to upgrade this site, and you can download the book right now.

This book costs $12. Go to Sites that Soar (SitesThatSoar.com) to order it online. (You can download it right now, even if it’s the middle of the night.)

The Sites the Soar! e-book contains 56 pages with step-by-step instructions, lots of screenshots, and many links to the entirely FREE resources that I used to build and customize this website.

Go listen to what I say about this book, and read others’ reviews of it. It’s all at SitesThatSoar.com.

P.S. You can earn $6 for every book bought by someone you tell about this book. For more details, visit the Affiliates page at Sites that Soar!

  1. Hi Eileen,
    Love your site!
    Want to buy the book

Question, where does one download the template from and is it free?
I went to Brandon Magazine and saw no option to download the template.
Yet he talks about others using it, maybe I just missed something

Anyway if the download link is in the book and the template is free
(which I’m guessing it is) just sat so , I’m a buyer

    Thanks,
    Dave

  2. The links to everything you need are in the book.

And, you’re right about it being a challenge to find the download link if you search for it online. Here it is:

You’ll like the book. Michael Oeser, who created Branford Magazine, gave the book a great review. He says, “Besides the general set up of a Wordpress installation this book explains in easy words various functions of BranfordMagazine. Soemteime more in detail than my tutorials do.”

    His review:

(You’ll need to scroll down for the English version of the review. Michael’s first language is German.)

  3. Thanks Eileen,

    Just made my purchase.
Download went well, that’s always nice!

Wish I had this when I did my most recent site BayaDays.com but oh well.

Best Regards & Have a Great Weekend
    Dave

  4. I wonder is this design help my site S.E.O.

  5. Hi Eileen,

Just wanted to let you and anyone else who is interested know that
your ebook Sites That Soar is really good!

I’ve proably read 4 or 5 other books on installing WP and I still learned a few new tricks.
Plus STS will save me many hours of frustration when installing and customizing
    the Branford Magazine theme.

For anyone who doesn’t want to spend the $12.00 consider this.
Over at http://www.revolutiontheme.com/ they are sell their Revolution MagazineTheme
    (very similar) Single-Use Package for - $79.95
    Ouch!

    O. K. that’s enough, I’m off to start my install

Thanks for the great ebook Eileen,
    Dave

  6. Hi,
I am new to WordPress and using Mimbo as my first theme. Does your book cover Mimbo?
    Michael

  7. Many parts–but not all–of Branford Magazine were based on Mimbo. Also, much of what I talk about applies to any theme that you’ll install. In addition, Darren Hoyt (the creator of Mimbo) recommends my book.

I’m not sure that my book will answer all of your questions about Mimbo, but if it saves you even two hours of headaches, the $12 cover price is probably worth it.
