If you can, stay with WordPress 2.3.3, which is what I describe in my book, Sites that Soar!

After several days of working with WordPress 2.5 (after its stable release), I’m regretting it.

It’s a matter of plugins. Plugins are vital to my website design, and — without them — I’m not happy.

Remember: Branford Magazine (the theme I’m using) and Mimbo [that Branford Magazine appears largely based on] are the starting point. Plugins (also free) are equally important.

However, some of my favorite plugins either don’t work on all servers, haven’t been updated to work with WP 2.5, or they have some quirky issues.

For example, the Enhanced WP Content Form hasn’t been updated for 2.5 yet. A simpler WP Content Form has been updated, but it doesn’t have spam protection and it and — on some hosting services — I can’t upload images unless I deactivate WP Content Form (in Plugins)… and then reactivate it after my images are online.

Save yourself these headaches. Use WordPress 2.3.3 instead of WordPress 2.5… at least until these issues are resolved, which may take months.
